No Beach Cottage? No Problem!
Bring the Beach to Your House

create a beach feel to your home even in the city

Lauren Russell has always dreamed of living in a little beach cottage overlooking the water. The home she imagines has exposed-beam ceilings, casement windows, French doors and painted cedar shake siding.  The only problem is, Lauren doesn’t live anywhere near the beach.  See how she has turned her five-bedroom hillside house near Annapolis into the comfortable, coastal living she covets. One step inside and you feel surprised that the surf and sand are not right outside the door.

A Beachy State of Mind

Blues, greens, and sunny yellow sets the tone for this casual "coastal" kitchen. I love the fun light fixture and the eclectic feel of this room.

Beachy touches are everywhere, like these starfish sitting atop the coat rack.

Brightly colored blues and greens set a casual, cheerful tone in the master bedroom.

From the moment you step onto the porch of this suburban home, you feel like you're at the beach. Fish-shaped Adirondack chairs, oars and signs on the porch bring the beach life home.

When I lived in Florida I had a great big 6 foot sign above my patio door (the one that lead out to the beach) that said “If you’re lucky enough to live at the beach, you’re lucky enough“.  That’s so true, but if you aren’t lucky enough to live at the beach, you can still decorate with coastal flair to your hearts content!

So what about you?  Do you live at the beach and if not, have you brought beach style to your home?

Peace, Love, and Beautifully Coastal Decor {no matter where you live},
